1. Will the bed linens get wet during the bathing procedure?
No, the patented showerhead prevents the shower spray from exiting the nozzle when you are not touching the body. Thus, you do not need water proof sheets.

2. Are three liters of water enough to wash the entire body as well as the hair?
Yes, with practice. If you run out of water, simply add more warm water.

3. Will the vacuum suction harm the body?
No, because the suction power is not extremely powerful. Also, you can choose from 1 to 4 different power levels depending on the patients skin condition.

4. How does the BodyVac clean?
A fine mist of warm spray cleanses the surface of the skin while the vacuum instantly removes the water, soap and residue. You simply hold the showerhead at any particular place on the body to clean that area.

5. Can soap and shampoo be used in the machine?
No. Soap and shampoo may clog the small orifices of the machine. Soap or shampoo should be applied prior to using BodyVAc.

6. Can you really rinse off all the shampoo?
We recommend a diluted mixture of shampoo or soap be used to process your bathing more quickly.

7. Is rinsing the body once enough?
It depends how dirty the body is, but washing once is usually enough. You may repeat the process if necessary.

8. How is the Body Vac disinfected/cleaned after use?

9. Is the wash water recycled?
No. Warmed clean water from the built-in water reservoir is pumped up to the shower nozzle and flows through the water tube onto the body. The used water is suctioned up via the vacuum hose to the holding tank. The used water in the holding tank is emptied each time after use.

10. How long does it take to heat the water reservoir?
Ten to fifteen minutes.

11. What is the capacity of the removable holding tank?
It holds up to 4.5 liters. When the 4.5-liter level is reached, you will hear a beep to let you know that it is time to drain the water. It can hold a maximum of 17 liters for cleaning the showerhead and vacuum hose after use. Again, you will hear a beep when the water reaches 7 liters.

12. Can the unit be deodorized?
You can spray deodorant in the holding tank before use so that any odor will be minimized.

13. Is the urine collection device unisex?
Yes. The collection device can be activated with suction only button and the spray can be activated after use to clean the devise.

14. Can you still use the hair showerhead for people who have longer hair?
The length of hair should be no longer than 10cm for effective use. You can still use it for longer hair, but it requires more water and time to thoroughly rinse the hair.

15. What is the water temperature?
There are two selections. Low is for 87.8 degrees F to 96.8 degrees F and high is for 98.6 degrees F to 105.8 degrees F. The temperature varies slightly depending on the amount of water in the reservoir tank.

16. Can the Body Vac be used on multiple people?
Yes. This product has been designed for multiple users, but each user should have their own personal shower attachments. Keep in mind that the capacity of the reservoir and removable holding tank are limited and must be refilled and drained after each use. Additional showerheads for each person can be purchased separately.

17. What safety devices are featured on the unit?
Overflow, low reservoir level and on/off indicator buttons. All the errors will be lit up in the LED display. Please see instruction manual for each detail.

18. Can remaining water be left in the machine?
No. You should drain the remaining water from both containers.

19. How long has Body Vac been on the market?
One year in Japan and it has been successful – over 1,000 units were sold.

20. How long has it been in the USA?
This unit is just being introduced in October 2002 at the Medtran Show in Atlanta.

21. Are these the only colors available?
No. Color can be specified if units are ordered in lots of 500.

22. Can a disposable plastic bag be incorporated in the vacuum holding tank?
No, because the rotating separator will not allow this.

23. What is the purpose of the rotating vacuum disc?
Its purpose is to separate water & solids from air intake.

24. Will the water spill out of the unit if it is knocked over?
The reservoir is sealed and will not leak. Holding tank is not sealed and will leak if the unit is not running – but will not leak if unit is running.

25. Where can this machine be serviced?
Any electrical service shop willing to repair the unit can simply get parts by calling Body Vac, or return it to Body Vac.

26. What heads are disposable?
The showerhead for hair, for body and the urine collector are disposable.

27. Is there a patent on this product?
The patent is pending the TM registered.

28. What is the cost savings potential using this product or is it just a convenience?
Cost savings equals time, time and more time and fewer maintenance people and lifting equipment needed to bathe a person.

29. What kind of warranty does it have?
One year.

30. Will the unit be covered under Medicare, Medicaid or health insurance?
The unit must be submitted to the proper agencies for approval. IPC has it under their blanket, liability insurance, Tokyo Marine. Also, Body Vac Products, Inc. has it’s own liability insurance.

31. Will it need federal approval to be sold?
FDA # approval and UL.

32. Does it carry/transfer any germs or bacteria and are the hoses and heat attachments
disposable?

All attachments are disposable.

33. How many water temperature settings are there?
There are two settings: 94 degrees and 104 degrees.

34. What will happen if rotator disc is opened while unit is running?
Unit will shut down and must be reset.

35. Will the unit shut down when reservoir tank is low?
Yes.

36. When will the units be ready to sell in the United States?
April, 2003

37. The hot mist doesn’t seem to be very hot.
In fact, the water temperature gets cooler before touching your body as it goes through the tube and sprays a fine mist.

38. How loud is the device?
The noise of Body Vac is 60 – 65 db during operation, which is the same level as a regular vacuum cleaner for home use. Noise restrictions may apply know the area of use.

39. How heavy is the Body Vac?
The weight of Body Vac is about 29 pounds when the water tank is empty. Please use the carrying the strap when you would like to lift it up or pull it. Swiveling wheels are attached under the product to allow the machine to glide across the floor. When the water tanks are full, the unit will weigh approximately 50 pounds. The water holding tank will weight about 19 pounds when full.

40. Can longer hoses be purchased?
The length of the hose is 2 meters long. The weight and storage of the hose may be a factor if it were longer. Longer hoses are not availabel at this time.

41. Why does the showerhead seem small in design?
The showerhead was designed to work efficiently on all parts of the body. If it were too big, it would not be able to wash the small parts of the body. The showerhead is made of ABS plastic so it can easily be disinfected and cleaned after each use.

42. How complicated is the set up and operation of Body Vac?
All that is necessary is to fill the water, select the water temperature and you are ready to wash the body. By using Body Vac, one can minimize the amount of towels, tissue papers, body manipulation and transportation of the person and bath container. Time consuming care will be drastically reduced.
